The 2023 Amador County Fair Homebrew Competition is on a new date and the venue is High Water Brewing at 927 Industrial Way, Lodi, Ca.

Competition date: Saturday July 8th @ 9:00am. Please join us between 8:00AM and 9:00AM for a Continental Breakfast.

Homebrew Entry Fee $10.00, AHA sanctioned, 2021 BJCP style guidelines apply.

Entry Guidelines, Forms, Etc…

This competition will use the 2021 BJCP style guidelines!There are no limits on the number of entries per sub-category! Any homebrewer may enter any sub-category any number of times and may receive multiple awards if their entries place. It is assumed that a homebrewer will not enter the exact same brew more than one time though. Several Porter entries are acceptable, the same Porter several times is not acceptable, for example.


Please make checks payable to, Amador County Fair. The online site will accept PayPal also and while cash is OK a check or PayPal is preferred.


For mead and cider entries please include all relevant information on the entry form. Please refer to the 2021 BJCP guidelines for Mead and Cider for complete information.

For specialty beers please refer to the 2021 BJCP style guidelines for examples of what a specialty beer is. Include all pertinent information that makes the brew a specialty.

A special note for entry drop off! Please call the drop location first and ensure they are able to accept your entry. We have received reports of some locations having modified hours to be open or modified procedures to deliver an entry. In all cases the ship to address will accept whatever is shipped.

The Small Print

Open to all United States homebrewers, Unlimited Entries per sub-category.

American Home brewers Association rules shall apply unless they are in conflict with State Rules.  AHA/BJCP Rules & Style Guidelines are available through the Fair Office website.    Enter according to 2021 BJCP Style: (ex. 9A or 9B).    Commercially produced beers or those produced at a brewery on premises facility are not eligible, except for the Amador  Invitational.  See 2021 BJCP guidelines.

Each entry consists of three (3) Bottles, 12 oz. brown or green glass, free of commercial labels, raised marks of lettering, or other identifying markings that are not part of the official entry label.  For Category 22 ONLY, three (3) 7oz. bottles will be accepted.  Clear glass bottles will not be accepted.  Please attach with a rubber band (no tape or glue) a properly completed official bottle I.D. label. 

First through Third Place Ribbons per category.  Additional awards may given if sponsored.  The competition organizer reserves the right to disqualify any entries not meeting the above guidelines or to consolidate classes, if warranted, due to low number of entries in a class.

Entries become the property of the Amador County Fair and will not be returned.
